SW Locums are looking to recruit a Advanced Social Worker for the Frontline Family Support and Protection service based in Tower Hamlets. The vacancy is for immediate start, full time and benefit from the support network of an excellent management structure.
Limited caseload
The ‘Family Support and Protection’ is a frontline social work safeguarding service responsible for working with children and families subject to long term statutory intervention due being on a child protection, child in need plan, care proceedings, private proceedings, and being privately fostered.
There are currently 908 children allocated in the service; all requiring active social work support and intervention.
This remains one of the most highly demanding and pressurised front line service with a high turnover of staff, and one that is resourced with permanent as well as agency staff. Currently we have a number of vacancies that we are actively recruiting to, but despite endeavours to recruit permanently to these posts, we are struggling to fill the vacancies at the speed and rate of turnover in the service.
It is essential we find the right candidate for this vacancy as soon as possible as if it is not covered it will add to the large number of unallocated CP and CIN cases and also will not allow the service to accept incoming cases from Assessment and Early Intervention Teams resulting in a bottleneck at the front door.
In this context, in conjunction with the Assessment and Early Intervention service it has been necessary since mid July 2014 to put in place emergency measures to manage the high volume of CIN cases that have required transfer into the Family Support and Protection service.
