SW Locums require the services of a Qualified Social Worker to work in Horsham, West Sussex. The vacancy is for a UK experienced worker to work in Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers Children’s team.
All applicants must be available in West Sussex every day The Children’s Asylum Team is responsible for meeting the welfare needs of under 18s from a range of nationalities in local authority care.
The role is working with unaccompanied asylum seeking and trafficked children.
Pay rate up to £42 per hour for the right worker.
Social Workers must be competent and experienced at working cross-culturally, from a trauma-informed perspective and using interpreters.
Applicants will be required to ensure that UASC access all essential services (education, health and legal) and additional services (voluntary sector) to meet their cultural needs and help them integrate socially.
Social Workers must manage a complex caseload of young people from a variety of backgrounds, who have experienced trauma and loss, can feel isolated or struggle to adjust to life in Britain and in their new care settings.
Social Workers will need to work closely with foster carers, supported lodgings providers, deal with placement moves and breakdowns, make referrals to the National Referral Mechanism, liaise with legal professionals and make assessments of family members as potential permanent carers.
Social Workers will need to be prepared to travel daily to undertake statutory visits, including out of county at times.
An understanding of the asylum progress and triple track Care/Pathway planning would be helpful. The candidate must be a car driver and be happy to drive around the county to fulfil the role requirement.
