SW Locums are searching a Social Worker / Senior Social Worker for the Violence, Vulnerability and Exploitation Team in Harrow. Applicants must have right to work in the UK, Social Work England registration and hold substantial experience in a similar statutory setting.

The role:

  • You will be a member of a team dedicated to working with young people to understand their vulnerabilities, lived experience and factors that increase the risks to their safety and wellbeing.  This includes young people who go missing, are being or at risk of sexual and or criminal exploitation, are affiliated with gangs or anti-social behaviour.
  • You will be required to carry out skilled direct work and interventions with our young people and their families to reduce risks and harm, develop trusted relationships and positive engagement that will support and encourage young people in achieving their full potential and improve their life chances.
  • Your role is key in safeguarding young people and their families as part of Harrow’s developing Contextual Safeguarding Approach.  You will therefore be required to demonstrate creativity, resilience and be adaptable in your approach to meeting the needs of our young people.
  • This post is responsible statutory social work practice with children and families within a local authority team setting.
  • To be the allocated Social Worker to complete assessments for children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, those subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the Court, children subject to private law proceedings To be responsible for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review functions for all allocated children and families.
  • A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation relating to children plus other statutory regulations, guidance and procedures
  • A detailed knowledge of the “Framework for the Assessment of Children and Their Families”
  • UK Experience of managing a complex caseload and delivering intensive outreach intervention with young people at high risk of becoming involved in group related offending, serious youth violence including gangs and child criminal exploitation, child sexual exploitation; and/or who are missing, vulnerable and exploited.
