SW Locums are looking to recruit the services of a Qualified Social Worker frontline Child Protection Service in Southend. This is a role in vibrant team operating with Children’s Social Care Services of the Council. With offices overlooking the Thames Estuary, this is a wonderful environment to be over the summer months.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with knowledge, understanding and experience of identifying the right placement for children in care and young care leavers.

All Applicants will need to registered social worker with Social Work England.

You will have a manageable caseload and the benefit of flexible working.

You will be a key player in bringing professionals together and achieving agreements in high quality placements for our children and young people.

You will need to have good organisational skills and ability to assess and understand the needs of the children and the young people in order to identify suitable placements.

The care leavers are also priority for the placements service and we always provide the highest quality of accommodation for them. In some cases you will help the allocated children’s social worker carry out their role regarding the above and work alongside them.

You will share and offer support to the team and other colleagues across the service.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate Qualification in Social Work / Diploma in Social Work or its equivalent.
  • Evidence of current registration with Social Work England
  • Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Familiar with all current legislation and able to carry out Section 74 enquires
  • Plus substantial post-qualifying experience including statutory work with Children and their families.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the delivery of services to children and their families and the current issues and legislation affecting them.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the county including to locations that are not always accessible by public transport.
